Laurence, Ruby's friend, confidant and father figure, has passed away, and his son Zane has shown up suddenly while she's still grieving. Zane ran away from home a while ago and hasn't contacted anyone since. Upon meeting Ruby, he immediately hates her. Zane believes that Ruby was his father's mistress.
