Having finally entered a period of tranquility, the Edo Shogunate is on the verge of changing dynasties from the 6th Shogun, Tokugawa Ienobu, to the 7th Shogun, Ietsugu Tokugawa. Amidst this change, Ejima, a palace maid renowned for her classical beauty, rises to a position of authority within the palace.
