It read like a short story cut into three parts to get your money. Honestly, I feel like I overpaid for a mediocre story.

agreed - it's exactly like a short story & I highly recommend renting instead of buying - there were a couple of scenes I really loved & I like the idea of the story but... this could have been done way better
