This is categorized as dark for a reason. This is a psychological thriller, with gory and depressing backstories. There is also non-con, but not with any love interests. The plot is excellent, and there actual romance is a slow burn that barely sparks by the end (although it was a good pay-off in my opinion). If you like murder mysteries and don't mind the aforementioned elements, then definitely get this one!
