This author captures beautifully the confusing ache as a young gay boy claws his way toward the object of his desire, learning to understand himself as he goes. There is always a lot of societal pressure against acknowledging sexuality before a certain “acceptable” age, but as someone who lusted after boys from my earliest memory, I want my stories told also. This volume is all about the love story. The companion volume, “Invisible Stars,” tells about the two teens navigating their sexual passion. The artist shows great insight into the confusion and the joy that both parties experience. I'd really like to see more titles like this on Renta! Love (and sex!) often bloom between two youngsters, or between older/younger pairs. It's reality and it should be reflected in our art and storytelling.
