The artwork is old fashioned and thick, but I feel that matches the timeline of the stories, most of which take place in New York pre-WWII. That said, while I usually enjoy a good mystery, the culprits of each story were easily discernable. Stories are less romance, more sex, and there's definitely sadistic overtones and some pseudo psychology to each of them. Which can make them interesting, but also occasionally confusing to read. Not a bad book, but not great either.
