I happen to like secret love child stories, but this one was pretty bad. Artwork was great. Plot was pretty decent, but the characters are what did this story's undoing for me. The only thing it solidified for me was that vaccines are a must. Mumps sounds awful. The two leads are horrible. Not like evil, shady people horrible, just no dimension horrible. The character growth happens in the last two panels. The sample mislead me, it wasn't enough to truly get a feel for where this story was going. That opening sequence with the hero was strange, almost mysterious, I wanted more of that feeling. But I was left wanting and never got what I truly craved. So sad, but such is life. The woman was pretty weak, and I try to be empathetic towards my fellow woman, fictional or otherwise, but damn she was too much of a romantic. If there was such a thing and after reading this, yes, yes there is. The guy was such a jerk, but I guess that's just the name of the game. Hate the game, not the player?
Yuck, this story was so awful. I don't know too many 24 year old virgins that live in the country side raised by decent God fearing traditional parents, but they can't all be so dumb and naive, really? I don't even know why I bothered with this story. The art is not my favorite, I don't like the pointy chins, kinda weird. The hero was not anything to get excited about. The heroine was so stupid and pretty shallow. Her thinking was so vapid, "oh I'll go to London to reason with him since he asked me out two years ago, but not because I'm attracted to him and want to see him again, no this is for my father." Ugg, just shoot me. I'm mad at myself mostly for sticking this out to the end. Yeah, there's a HEA, but this story goes beyond what romance is all about. Sure there are untold truths and misconceptions, but the two leads are super shallow and boring. Just boring. If testing your tolerance for the totally absurd, then go ahead and waste your tickets, like I did, but I don't recommend.
Whoa, this was kinda intense, of course I mean that in the best way possible. The art is great, the artist did a great job of bringing this story to life through manga. Lilly and Dane are such polar opposites and their longing was so palpable, just made me want to squirm in my seat. The secret that was keeping them apart for years was one I saw fairly quick in the beginning, I was like "huh, that guy is probably...yup yup that's it." It was good. I usually rate these stories a little bit too high in general when the story in concessive and the art is beautiful, and I enjoy the characters push and pull. It had all of that in spades.
Pure, adorable, loveable romantic comedy. Renta! should have a rom-com option when selecting the type of harlequin story, like they have for playboy, age gap, suspense, etc etc. Anyway, Sara and Matt were funny and cute, perfect leads. Loved the misunderstandings in this story, mostly because it really kept the story going with humor hi jinx, but also because it served to further the plot and what was really driving each of the lead characters. The title and cover art are so misleading, especially the title. No one gets married. In the beginning it was all about Sara losing her V-card, not finding a husband, but Juliette had another idea in store for her girl, wasn't going to steer her girl wrong. Like her very own fairy god mother. Super adorable! I laughed and I'll re-read this again.
Amy was one of my favorite heroines ever! Yeah, she was cute and young, but she wasn't completely naive or out of touch with reality and not annoying (major plus for me when deciding if a character is awesome or not).Hugh wasn't a complete jerk either, even though he was older and had more work responsibilities, and more experience in other areas he never made Amy feel like total crap. Ok, he once told her that he didn't see her as a woman, but to be fair her big bother aka his best friend was right there. There weren't any laugh out loud moments, it was just cute and I'm glad that it was wrapped up so nicely, it didn't seem too rushed. That woman, Sonya, phew she was something else. Glad she wasn't able to get away with too much. Oh and the art was super fantastic! Loved it!!! Good read and nice HEA. Even though all harlequin novels have one, not all are created equal. This one though, it was satisfying.
Oh the art was great, the storyline moved along very nicely; not too rushed or too slow. I instantly liked both of the leads. Marriage without love is one of my favorite tropes in romance stories and this one was well delivered. They both didn't do the whole love thing for their own personal reasons, but the chemistry between them was undeniable. So much so, that they both wanted to keep the other close (especially the hero and all the ways he tried to keep Lily safe, but she was too independent for that bs) and open up their hearts. Oh, they were cute. Really enjoyed the story.
This story was perfect. The two leads Spencer and Jane were so cute. Jane is absolutely adorable. My favorite laugh out loud moment is when she is at the dinner and pretending to be married to her best friends husband. Poor Chuck! It's harlequin, so there was the usual misunderstanding between the leads and the pussyfooting around the whole "do I confess the truth/ confess my feelings" scenario. There is absolutely no cheating or scandals, just a truly sweet lovely story and a great HEA. Must read. The art is fantastic, usual greatness by Tomoko Takakura.
What a strange story. I liked it and here is why:1. The characters are so flawed and that makes the story interesting2. Kanade is seriously flawed, in love with his father for crying out loud!3. The portrayal of celebrity is so thought provoking; they're beautiful, talented, rich, but underneath it all so desperate to be loved. And the way they show their love is what makes it weird. Because they don't really know or understand such things as boundaries, ethics is almost nonexistent in celebrity world. In a way I thought why put love in a box? But then I definitely thought, yeah, some boundaries are good, like not sleeping with your dad. So good on Kaname for putting the kabosh on that situation.4. Delusional characters are abundant, the stalker, Kanade, his mother, and even Yumma. All at varying levels though. Theyre simple and subtle, and makes me want to take a step back.Overall, it was a good story and makes me immensely happy to be an outsider looking in.
OH my god what a crappy story. I thought that the premise was ok in the beginning. A cute and plucky girl trying to make it on a her own in the big city who just happens to get "rescued " by the handsome, powerful, rich boss. But there is like no romance whatsoever!!!! What?! They are both attracted to each other, but nothing comes of it, he even starts seeing his ex while pretending to be her fianc辿. I was not impressed and the art was so-so. Not my favorite story. I should've listened to Chicobaby's review.
More!!! I want another chapter at least. It was so short and sweet. I love the professor!
